Update as of July 29, 2014: With a mix of great sadness and even greater joy, I wish to inform you all that our dear sister passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at 2:40pm. Her organs could no longer handle the sustained trauma, so God called her home. Many say her time was too short and ask "why her," but we are finding peace and joy in knowing that she is with our Father in heaven and that everything happens according His great plan. Thank you all again for your support and kindness. Please pray for her family; they are handling the situation beautifully and are relying on the strength and promises of God. Donations are still being collected if you feel it is on your heart to encourage and support her family. May God bless and love to you all.
Prayers and support are needed for our sister Tiare Kiilani Giron of the Greater Las Vegas Church of Christ. She was hiking last Tuesday, July 8, 2014 and collapsed from heat stroke. Kii has been in the ICU since then and is slowly turning around, but it's in baby steps. At the moment we're not sure how much longer she'll be in the hospital, as she is in multi-system failure. She's a two-year-old disciple and is only 18 years old. Many people have asked how they can help her family, so I (Kim Bowers) have started a GoFundMe! account to help support and encourage her family by raising money to pay for her medical bills. From Frank Williams, Senior Minister of the GLVCC: The countless acts of compassion and love for Kii and her family has been one of the most inspirational moments I have ever been allowed to witness. Thank you for your love, prayers and unwavering support for Kii and her family. Please note that this GoFundMe request for financial support for the Giron family was inspired by one of our family members, Kim Bowers. This is not a church-sponsored request in anyway, as we have many needs and requests before us as a family. In a spirit of loving one another with a cross-type of love, we attempt to meet the needs of all of God's children as best we can without lifting one need above another. This is not an issue of fairness...but of love in our passion to help everyone we can in and outside of the GLVCC family, we humbly recognize our limited abilities as humans to do so.
