AUSTRALIA: Five Sisters Baptized

Written by  Jacqui - Australia Friday, 28 May 2010 21:04

Hello, my name is Jacqui and I live in sunny Brisbane in Australia. My
husband Tim and I take care of a terrific family ministry in the city’s
west as well as looking after Kid’s Kingdom. We absolutely love church and we have a very happy and busy life raising our three fantastic sons. I became a Christian just over fourteen years ago in the Melbourne Church of Christ.

At that time, I was married and pregnant with my first child. When
I came to church and studied the bible for the first time I realised that I
had not been living as a true disciple (even though I had always thought I
was a ‘good’ person and had always ‘religiously’ attended church with my
mother). I soon made the decision to ‘truly’ make Christ Lord of my life.

When I got baptized, I remember thinking about my family a lot. When I
first tried to talk to my family about what I had read in the bible they
were very dismissive and angry for many years. Thankfully, I persisted and
worked on loving and serving my family but I also accepted that because
they were my family, that they would always be ready to remind me of my
flaws (of which I have many). It was years before I could get anyone to
listen to me, but I kept asking and sharing the amazing things I was learning at church.

Two years later, my wonderful husband (a truly humble and special man) was won over by the Lord. Shortly after his onversion, my sister (one of five younger sisters) began to respond and she became a Christian. Today five sisters are now committed Christians and four of us are married to/dating terrific godly men. My baby is now 13 and he too is studying the Bible and fired up about his walk with God.

I also believe that God is continuing to bless our family. My Mum has been
coming along but my father has been quite resistant to any talk about God.
We continue to pray and hold out hope for him. Don't forget: if you are a
disciple, God has plans for your family too. Amen.
