What Did You Have To Go Through To Attend The ICMC?

 

Sonia was baptized a few months ago. She has been going through a lot of persecution during this time. When she told her family she wanted to attend the ICMC, they beat her up badly. She is a tough young woman and she decided to come anyway. She attended the conference. Not only that but she was one of the most zealous young women there. She is also helping another student who is undergoing tremendous persecution.

 

Anjana (in pink with glasses) was baptized last month in Orissa, the state of India where churches have been burnt over the last few months. Christians are randomly killed, women are raped, and kidnappings are common. This is the state in which Australian Graham Staines was burnt alive with his two young sons a few years ago while he was trying to help leprosy patients.

 

 

When Anjana was baptized, she faced intense persecution. When she announced she was coming to Delhi for the ICMC, her friends and family kidnapped her and took her back to her native place. She was nowhere near the church when the disciples boarded the train to Delhi. She is a very courageous young woman though. She made her way back to the city of Bhubaneshwar where the church is located. She confronted her mom on the phone who then relented. The leaders put Anjana on a plane so she could fly to Delhi in time to attend the ICMC. She was also one of the most joyful women at the conference!

 

The struggles that these sisters go through make us grateful for the freedom that we have. Please pray for them so that they may continue to boldly witness for God! To God be the glory!
