Dear Lydia: Grieving through the holidays

Dear Lydia,

I am a 45 year old single woman. I have been a disciple for 18 years and normally I am very happy and active in many activities in the church as well as in the community. This has been a hard year for me because my mother died in April and I have had some financial setbacks and health problems.

I am disappointed with myself because I am just not in a holiday mood this year.

Why We Can't Have It All

As a person with a big appetite for life and food, the concept of a portion is one that causes me to pause. Lately, I have been trying to strike the right balance between being content with what I have, my portion, and not losing hope for the things I desire.

Ps16:5-6 “Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.”
