May 12, 2009 is the 1st anniversary of Wenchuan Earthquake of Sichuan. On this special day, all the Christians in a nearby city fasted from 6:00AM to 6:00PM and prayed at the same time on 14:30PM to mourn the victims and appreciate our faith given by God.
During the past year, we never ceased the relief and love to the people in disaster areas. By now, brothers and sisters from different churches have been to the disaster areas more than ten times to offer relief, attend medical rescues, visit families, provide psychological counselling, accompany injured children, rebuild houses and so on.
Most of the money and relief, donated by churches in Hongkong?Taiwan?along with 7 churches in China, has been devoted to their habilitation. The amount is approaching one hundred thousand Yuan. ($15,000) Now we have a full time staff person with HOPE in the nearby city, who is one of our brothers. At present, his job is focusing on the rehabilitation of disaster areas. An infant school which was destroyed in the earthquake has been donated by HOPE Hongkong and has started to be rebuilt.
At the same time, the Kingdom is moving on! In 2008, 32 people were baptized into the family in spite of the earthquake and devastation. Two months after the earthquake, a new mission team arrived in the top city in China. At the beginning of this, they had 3 "new births" among them! Our service and mission will keep on going!
