Ari and Damianus – Finding The Purpose of Life

Monday, 09 August 2010 05:09

Damianus was a student in a private university in Medan. He also worked as a barber to support his studies. His activities consumed all of his time from morning till night.

At work, he had a friend named Ari Zai (a brother in the East Single Ministry). Damianus knew Ari for two years and Ari often invited him to come to the church meetings, but he always rejected it because his time was full. Then Ari stopped inviting him, he thought Damianus was not interested in God.

To him who by means of his power working in us is able to do so much more than we can ever ask for, or even think of…(Ephesian 3:20)

After a while Ari offered him to study the Bible and thought Damianus would reject it as usual. But on the contrary, Damianus responded well and started to study the Bible at 10 p.m after work.

That night, after the first time he studied the Bible about “the purpose of life”, Damianus was interested to come to church. He continued the Bible study, repented, and finally, decided to be a disciple of Christ, and be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

We never know before trying. Do not let your hesitation or lack of faith stopped you from trying. And through the work of God in Damianus’ life we can see that God can do much more than we expect and pray for. To God be the glory!
