The scriptures frequently speak of the widow, the orphan or the fatherless, and those who had lost their living relations and were in need of a family and the protection of a home. The practice of taking in orphans and widows was not a given, however.

Changing the World Through Adoption Joe and Annie Silipo have been been in the ministry for over 25 years. They have served in Boston, Los Angeles, Phoenix and now serve in Milan, Italy. They had their first two children, Lynda and Joseph before deciding to adopt Sammy. Joe, Annie and Sammy live in Milan, Italy. Lynda and Joseph are both a part of the campus ministry in Blacksburg Virginia.

Kyle and Marcy Lindenmuth met at the University of Maryland when Marcy was studying the Bible. Kyle had become a disciple in 1991 while attending NC State. They dated for a year and were married in August 1995. Early in their marriage they had the privilege of being close to a family who had adopted a child from China.

The path to adoption can have many obstacles and unexpected detours. For Shannon and Janella Van Zee this was especially true. Shannon became a disciple in Kansas City and Janella became a follower of Christ while living in Houston, Texas.

Toney and Denise Mulhollan. Children: Audra and Cali
Toney and Denise Mulhollan moved to Houston from Boston, Massachusetts in late 2006. They met, dated and married in the Boston Church of Christ. In fact, early next year they will be celebrating their tenth wedding anniversary. Denise is an ob/gyn physician practicing in northwest Houston and Toney works as Editor for Illumination Publishers.

One of them was the opportunity everyone had to evaluate what they believed in and to make decisions based on those convictions.
