John Oakes Reports on South American Missionary Teaching Trip

Buenos Aires, Argentina, July 11-14

In Buenos Aires, we are visiting a church of about 100.  They are led by Sebastian and Sarai Serra.  The church has grown from 25 to 100 since they came here 5 years ago.  They went through a very challenging time here 2004-2009, but the church definitely is getting back on track.  Also, Steve and Diana Brown are here from Nashville to support the church for nine months. They were on the original church planting team here back in the late 1980s.  There is much need for their experience and encouragement.

Roanoke Valley Church Celebrates 10th Anniversary

In the waning months of 2003, when many of our churches were scuffling for footing, there was a collective effort to keep the Kingdom of God moving forward. What is the best thing to do when you need to get realigned? Plant a church. In August of 2004, twenty-four disciples from the churches in Virginia came together to descend onto the "Star-City" of Roanoke, Virginia and to plant the Roanoke Valley Church.

Ocean State Church of Christ Celebrates First Baptism

In Acts 8, an African man traveled to another country and was met by Philip while reading the Bible on his own. Immediately following this God-ordained encounter, the Ethiopian treasurer was baptized and went on his way rejoicing.

Two thousand years later, in Providence, Rhode Island, a single man originally from Liberia, Africa, was met while reading the Bible on his own in a Starbucks. Shortly afterward, Quarty Soe – a barber and a father – was immersed at the beautiful Lincoln Woods State Park Beach for the forgiveness of his sins at a midweek service.

Caribbean Churches Launch Missions Association

Sun, sand, and sea...the Caribbean islands are home to 13 nations and 17 territories. Each island is unique in it's beauty, culture, and food.

By the hand of God, there are currently 36 ICOC churches spanning 13 Caribbean nations with over 3,000 disciples. However, with a total Caribbean population of 40 million souls, there is much work yet to be done.
