Alaska - Ready for Disciple Adventures

Recently Disciple Adventures posted a new opportunity for disciples seeking a new challenge: Alaska! We asked Ray Nadon to describe the opportunity.

Q: What are you looking for?

We’re seeking disciples who can come help for one year or longer, and disciples who want to join a new church planting.

Q: Brothers, or sisters, or both?

Both!

Q: Why Alaska?

We are the Last Frontier! Alaska is a great and large place that needs to be evangelized. We have a strong vibrant congregation of 120 adults and 65 children. Our campus and youth ministries are growing but we could use some more help. What a great experience for anyone who comes! Alaska is unlike anywhere else in the USA. We also have a very healthy and active HOPE worldwide Chapter. We have many service programs throughout the State. We will offer a unique spiritual and serving experience.

Q: What exactly would you be expecting volunteers to do at your site?

They would help out on campus, studying the Bible with people. We would also have them involved in serving projects around Alaska. The University of Anchorage Alaska has 20,000 students, many of whom are open and eager. We just need to do our part.

Q: What do you envision will be different in your ministry after one year with a volunteer serving within it?

The campus will be very solid and developed. We will also be able to have a number of people become Christians who come from all over Alaska. Anchorage is the key to planting the rest of Alaska.

Q: Tell us about your ministry training program.

We have an extensive ministry program that was developed for the Northwest Family of Churches. I can send you all of the information and layout. I personally have a Masters of Education and my graduating project was to design a course for the University. It is still being used to this day. Our training program includes a balance of academic education as well as hands on training.
