Untimely Passing of Bruce Matthews
Our hearts are saddened to announce that at 5:30 PM on August 4, our dear brother Bruce Matthews passed from this life to eternity at the age of 42. Bruce became a disciple in 1991 in Wichita, Kansas; one of the early conversions after the church was planted.
How God Got Me!
It is 2012 and I’ve been a disciple of Jesus for 14 years. In 1997, however, I was a divorced, disillusioned Navy Sailor in my late thirties stationed in San Diego. I had been in the Navy nearly twelve years by that time. Since I had missed promotion to my next level four years in a row, I threw myself into my work with an intensity that soon garnered me recognition as the command’s Sailor of the Year. But...

The church in Dayton, Ohio is looking to hire a campus minister for the 2012-2013 school year. We are a church of 57 disciples, and growing well in 2012 that has a dream to see our city evangelized, including the three main campuses of Wright State University, the University of Dayton, and Sinclair Community College. With a combined student enrollment of more than 55,000 students, there is plenty of opportunity to grow a thriving campus ministry.

I Love My Church!
Let me start by saying, I ABSOLUTELY love my church, the International Church of Christ (ICOC). So, any use of the word cult or being involved in a cult is only a spin on the definition. Cult by definition is a group of people who share religious or spiritual beliefs, especially beliefs regarded by others as misguided, unorthodox, extremist, or false.
Prayer for Grieving Families in Colorado
Tragically, on Friday night 12 people were killed and 58 injured by a gunman at a movie premiere in Aurora, Colorado, a Denver suburb.
I am so saddened and sickened by the shooting and tragedy here in Denver. All of our summer Interns went to the movie premiere last night, but at a different theater. All of our teens are at Summer Camp. I am so sad for the individuals and families who were not so fortunate. Please pray for them.
The disciples and their families are all well. We are very grateful for the many prayers and words of support we have received from disciples all over the world.
May God provide "a refuge for the needy in their distress,
a shelter from the storm
and a shade from the heat.
For the breath of the ruthless
is like a storm driving against a wall." Isaiah 25:4 (TNIV)
Good News From West Virginia
It is exciting to see the good news being preached in the Mountain State of West Virginia. God is working in great ways through the Kanawha Valley Church.
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news!”

Marshall Hopkins Passes on to Be With the Lord
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
A Fish Story
This past Friday, I drove 300 miles, got a sun burn and threw up several times. It was one of the best days of my life. I have been privileged by God in many ways. The list is too long to recount. One way is definitely in the many amazing friendships which have encouraged, challenged and changed me. For the past 25+ years, two men have long stood on my closest friends’ list. They represent the past, present and future. They are spiritual generations in the flesh. You have them too. Don’t ever forget them.
