On Monday March 26, 2012, join us in a Day of Prayer and Fasting for the ongoing development of Spanish Language Ministries in the United States.
U.S. population facts concerning people of Latin American origin residing in the United States present both a tremendous challenge and opportunity for our churches. According to 2010 Census facts, the Hispanic population in the United States grew from 35 million in the year 2000 to a staggering 51 million in 2010!
This is the largest minority in the United States – accounting for 1 out of every 6 Americans. Amazingly, 36 million of the 2010 figure identified themselves as Spanish Speakers and 35 million are under the age of 35, 27 being the median age. The largest percentage growth has occurred in non-traditionally Hispanic states such as Connecticut, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Nebraska, South Carolina and Louisiana. In fact, every state witnessed over 25% change from 2000 to 2010.
We believe these facts represent a tremendous mission field opportunity that God has allowed to sprout among us and also present a great opportunity of new growth for our churches. Along with this, these numbers communicate the compelling need for strong and dynamic Spanish language ministries in most of our churches along with the need to raise-up Spanish speaking evangelists and women’s leaders. With few notable exceptions, we are far behind the curve as many of our churches lack strong Spanish language ministries or emphasis, as well as the concerted efforts to develop these leaders. Most compelling is that sadly these facts represent a lack of evangelistic hope of salvation for a large portion of our populace. Ignoring this mission field would be akin to ignoring the evangelization of a country of over 50 million people, such as France, U.K., Colombia or Ukraine.
With this in mind, the Spanish language ministries in Los Angeles, in conjunction with the Boston, Miami, Chicago and San Diego Spanish Language Ministries along with the South West brotherhood of churches, have declared a day of prayer and fasting on Monday March 26 2012. Our hope is that through this God would stir our hearts, open the harvest and ultimately lead us to develop a unified strategy to meet this great need. We would love for your church or Spanish language ministry to join us. If you are interested, email me at: This email address is being protected from spambots.
