Eunice, Keeping the Dream Alive

Written by  Nadine Templer Thursday, 17 September 2009 01:00

Eunice was a single woman in her 50s in the London church ten years ago. She always served and helped, faithfully following Jesus. God blessed her with a relationship with a wonderful man also in his 50s, Trevor.

Around the same time Eunice became very ill. As a result she lost her hearing. Not to be daunted, Eunice kept her smile and courageous attitude. She got married and both she and Trevor carried on bravely with their walk with God.

In 2003, unlike many, they stayed strong. As they reached retirement, Trevor and Eunice decided to go back to Ghana, Eunice’s native place. Now in their sixties, in 2007, they moved to Ghana and started a small church planting. Soon after getting there they met a man who was soon baptized. Now they are seven members.

This month, out of their own money, Trevor and Eunice traveled to the International Leadership Conference in Denver so they could learn how to be better leaders! I met them at the airport. I was so moved to see them after so many years. We shared and prayed together. Trevor had to slowly and lovingly rephrase every word to Eunice as she cannot hear.

What struck me about Eunice were her faith, calm perseverance, and love for God. She is more committed now than she has ever been! I am really inspired by her example. At the age of sixty she went on the mission field and is living a sacrificial devoted life, trying to help as many as possible in her corner of the world.
