Designed on Purpose 4: Living Freely Under Authority
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)
What do you think of when you think of the word “submission”?
Friday Night Delights (March 2009)
March 6, 2009: Another good part of Friday nights is when it’s time for bed. Emma sleeps like a log. Once she’s out it’s hard to wake her. She can fall asleep in a moment, so when it’s bedtime we let her fall asleep downstairs in the living room with us.
A Life Worth Living by Geri Laing (Review)
“Will this matter a hundred years from now?”
In Geri Laing's book, A Life Worth Living, she suggests that we as women should ask ourselves the above question to focus our priorities. She shares about what really matters in life. As her nest is emptying, as she faces health challenges and deals with other changes, she stopped to reflect on her life.
God's Pitcher by Gloria Baird (Review)
When I read Gloria’s Baird’s book, God’s Pitcher, I knew this would be a book I wanted to pass on to others I love. From her life rich with spiritual wisdom and experience, Gloria shares with us Biblical wisdom displayed in “pictures” we can remember and apply to our own life. These in turn can help us think spiritually when we face situations where we might otherwise turn to worldly or unspiritual thought patterns.

Friday Night Delights (January-February 2009)
January 31: I learn much about God through my grandchildren. Friday is my favorite night of the week. Most Friday nights Wyndham (Papa) and I (Nana) keep our grandchildren while their parents teach at the campus devotional. I don’t do much of my work during this time; I just enjoy the relationship. Throughout the day I think about how to make the day special. Every week we order pepperoni pizza, make brownies, play, watch an episode or two of “Caillou,” and then put them to bed.
Designed on Purpose 3: Gentle and Quiet Spirit
Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful. They were submissive to their own husbands, like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her master. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear. (1 Peter 3:1-6)

God delights in us:
The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing. (Zephaniah 3:17)
Designed on Purpose 2: Taking every thought captive
Taking Every Thought Captive
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5
