HOPE worldwide Encouraged by Response
Church leaders meeting at the International Leadership Conference in Denver last month rallied to the cause of the International Day of Giving, a new church wide fundraiser to sustain HOPE worldwide's humanitarian work in 2010. HOPE worldwide is hearing from churches and disciples from across the U.S. on a daily basis about their creative and exciting efforts to support this initiative.

One Family's Disaster Story
…from serving to being served

It was a beautiful summer day and the beginning of the July 4th holiday weekend. Friends were gathering at our house for a cookout. We have been blessed with a small home located in a quiet New England community surrounded by terrific neighbors. The house is a small cape with a detached two car garage. We were glad the weather was cooperating, after a very rainy week. As we enjoyed wonderful food and having a great time - disaster stuck.

Our teams on the ground are already providing medical care, food and clothing. As time progresses, the emphasis will shift to long-term rehabilitation. If funds allow, initial investments would be designed to dovetail into initiatives related to education, training and micro-finance.

Typhoon Ondoy Update - Before and After
On September 26, 2009, Typhoon Ondoy brought a month's worth of rainfall to Metro Manila and nearby areas in just a few hours, causing severe flooding, which resulted in the loss of many lives and the displacement of hundreds of thousands of people. To add to the already overwhelming damage, Typhoon Pepeng struck the northern regions of the Philippines eight days later.
The destruction was overwhelming and the needs are mounting.

American Red Cross Highlights Partnership
The partnership between HOPE worldwide's US Chapters and the American Red Cross has impacted our nation. Together, we spurred over 1,000 volunteers into action after Hurricanes Ike and Gustav, rebuilt homes across the Gulf Coast and donated blood to people in dire need.
Funding Cuts leave 30,000 Orphans in Peril
Drs. Mark Ottenweller and Marc Aguirre of HOPE worldwide have been helping 30,000 orphans in 6 nations in Sub Saharan Africa through various programs. Sadly, their projects lost funding last year, and they have been scrambling to generate new grants for the orphans before their own salaries run out and they are forced to look for other jobs.
