As a young woman Kerry was deeply involved in idol worship...

(The names in this story have been changed to respect the privacy of the individuals. For the same reason we did not publish any photos)

As a young woman Kerry was deeply involved in idol worship, fortune telling, and various forms of superstition. When she was twenty three years old a fortune teller told her that she was destined to become someone’s mistress. Over the next few years Kerry had many relationships with different men. She also had an abortion which left her with little hope of ever conceiving again. Kerry was broken hearted.

At the age of twenty nine she met a married man. She remembered the fortune teller’s words as she became very involved with this man. The relationship went on for a few years.

During that time some disciples in Kuala Lumpur reached out to Kerry. She started studying the Bible. She knew she had to break the relationship with her married lover. She was in her thirties by that time and she was worried about her future. It was a tough decision. Would she be able to find another man? Would she ever get married? Would she be able to have a family? Would she be able to be a strong Christian?

Kerry struggled for two years but she finally decided to do the right thing. As she repented fully she also started praying for her former lover’s wife. She did not know her name and had never met her but she had heard her voice on the phone. Kerry felt so bad for the sins she had committed.

About a year after her conversion Kerry joined a couple of other sisters for some Bible studies with another woman named Kimmy. Kerry and Kimmy soon became good friends. Something was bothering Kerry though. She kept thinking that Kimmy’s voice sounded strangely familiar. She had her doubts but how could she ask if Kimmy was her former lover’s wife?

Eventually Kerry plucked up the courage to ask, and yes, Kimmy was who Kerry thought she was! Forgiveness and reconciliation took a lot of love, courage, and many tears, but the two women remained friends, and Kimmy was soon baptized.

When Kerry first started praying for Kimmy, she had never met her. She did not even know her name! She never imagined God would answer her prayer in such an amazing way!

Today Kerry is a strong Christian. She did get married in the church and she is praying for God to give her a child. God has given her spiritual children though as she has met nine different people who have become Christians. The gratitude she feels at being forgiven has given her the incentive to actively share her faith with others.
